Letter To Alumnae

March 2017 Newsletter

February was a craXi month for our sisters in the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.

This month we held our philanthropy event, Xi Auction. This was a huge success! We appreciated all the support and help from everyone who made this event a memorable one. Epsilon Nu is extremely proud for raising $1,211.00 to donate to Autism Speaks! Please check out our social media to get a glimpse of what happened at the event. The following week other organizations at the University of Hartford held their own philanthropy events. Our new members were proud and excited to participate in a Lip Sync Battle event. Shayla shined in her duet while Ariana, Kim, and Ashley strutted their stuff in a group song. By the end of the month we relaxed with a potluck to eat, be with our sisters, and have a great time. Spending quality time means so much to us! It was the best way to end a long week.

We cannot wait to see what the rest of the month brings! As of right now, we are in a bit of a dilemma. The University of Hartford took away all chapter rooms for the Greek Life organizations. We currently have nowhere to store any of our stuff that we use for philanthropy events, recruitment, etc. For those alumnae who are in the Hartford area, if you are willing to store any of our objects, please reach out to Jodi. We would be SO incredibly grateful!

With Founder’s Day quickly approaching, we are hoping to gather together current sisters and alumnae for a brunch (very much like the one from last year). It may be in early weeks April or the first week of May. Since the alumnae worked so hard to host the brunch last year, the sisters at UHart would love to hold the event on campus to show our appreciation to you all. Please reach out to our advisors if this is something that interests you.

February 2017 Newsletter

Throughout the last month of being back at school, things have been incredibly busy for the Epsilon Nu chapter of Alpha Xi Delta.

Last month was our formal recruitment. We were excited to have an ELC there with us to guide us through it all. Vanessa, our previous Membership VP, just received a phone call from Nationals congratulating our specific chapter on how successful our formal recruitment went. Simply from looking at our social media accounts, she complimented us from the decorations in our room to the attire each sister wore. Our percentage of people wanting to come back to our room each day increased by 21%. Having them call us individually was a huge achievement for Epsilon Nu. It shows that as a sisterhood, we are improving step by step and that our progress does not go unnoticed.

We are excited to see what our ten new members will bring to the chapter. Within the last week, we have been hosting our “COB” parties. Panhel informed us that we were allowed to add three more girls to our new member class. It was a tough decision, but we finally found the perfect girls. We just extended bids to them, and cannot wait to introduce them to Alpha Xi Delta.

A new Executive Board is working hard in improving the chapter in anyway they can. At the end of the month, we will be hosting our philanthropy event: Xi Auction. Please check out our flyer for the event on our Alpha Xi Delta Facebook page. If you are available, we would love for you to attend! If anyone has anything they want to donate for the event as a prize option, please contact either Jodi Kenney, Nina (Programs VP) at 860.205.2201, or Meghan (Philanthropy Chair) at 860.384.3919. All proceeds are donated to Autism Speaks.

We are incredibly excited to see how successful the event will be. In the meantime, our new Chapter Life Vice President, Alyssa, is currently in the works of planning many sisterhood events - such as go-karting and bowling to a sisterhood retreat. Spring is our favorite time here at Hartford and we cannot wait to see what else each new day brings.

As mentioned before, we are hoping to plan a brunch with our Alumni group! We would love to introduce you all to our new members and show you what we have been up to in person. To keep up with us, please follow our social media accounts or check out our website!
